SILICON VALLEY COMIC CON 2019 HIGHLIGHTS
Terminators, Gotham detectives, a star ship captain, and more were on hand for Silicon Valley Comic Con 2019. The 4th annual convention went down 8/16 – 8/18 at the McEnry Convention Center in San Jose.
A reunion of the cast from three different Terminator movies was the big billed attraction. It was a massive gathering that saw the reunion of Edward Furlong (John Connor – T2, Terminator Dark Fate), Robert Patrick (T100 – T2), Michael Biehn (Kyle Reese – T1), Jenette Goldstein (Janelle Voight – T2), Danny Cooksey (Tim – T2), and Kristanna Loken (T-X – T3). The crowd did seem a bit confused by the fact that Arnold Schwarzenegger (T 800 – T1, T2, T3, Terminator Genisys, Terminator Dark Fate) was not part of the reunion. The former California Governor was on hand at the convention signing autographs but did not take part in the panel.
The real stand out of the celebrity panels was WWE legend Stone Cold Steve Austin because he was not only able to speak about his own career but the current state of the wrestling industry as well. Austin admits he wishes he could have worked with Hulk Hogan but that egos may have gotten in the way.
Austin mentioned a recent podcast he did with Hogan in which both men agreed, “If we had gotten in to a room and kind of like cleared the air and just said hey man lets do this lets make some money”.
Stone Cold also spoke about the WWE’s new competitor All Elite Wrestling, “I think it’s best for the people that are the fans of professional wrestling because now WWE’s got their work cut out for them. They’re the cream of the crop when it comes to being at the top of the heap. And now you have this upstart organization starting with Tony Khan and he’s very passionate about the wrestling business. I look forward to seeing what happens”.
Ben McKenzie and Donal Logue from Fox’s recently ended Gotham mostly reminisced about their time on the show. Morena Baccarin who met her husband, McKenzie, while also starring on Gotham spoke more about acting and her career including her roles in Deadpool, Firefly, and Homeland.
Star Trek Discovery’s Anson Mount told fans that there are no current plans for anything involving his character Captain Pike. He did leave fans feeling empowered though telling them that CBS is “listening. They’re noticing what people are saying on social media. If you want it; talk about it, tweet it, write about it. They are listening.”
